Tina Vinsant has been a nurse since 2015. Returning to school at an older age when her children were older, she has worked on a cardiac step down unit, in telephone triage, and currently serves patients on a progressive care unit. She began her podcast in 2018. Since she enjoys listening to true crime podcasts and realized there wasn’t one dedicated to medical stories, she decided to create one. Her mission for “Good Nurse Bad Nurse” is to encourage and unite people working in the medical field.
Tina is married with three boys, She graduated from nursing school in 2015 with an ADN and completed her BSN in 2017. She is currently unit council chair and sits on the research council. In March of 2019, she received the Preceptorship Award which is voted on by new grad orientees. She also received the Nurse Excellence Award in May of 2019. Nominations for this award are submitted by nurse managers or peers, and winners are chosen based on dedication, exceptional clinical practice, and distinguished contributions to the nursing profession.
Nurse Tina is currently working on a documentary that will be used to educate the community — especially school-aged children — about the risks of infection associated with IV drug use. A production company has agreed to do the project pro bono and began filming interviews in April of 2019. One of her future goals is to develop educational materials for patients and staff about IV drug-related infections, and this would include educating staff about caring for this difficult population, as well as educating patients about their disease process.
