On episode 229 of The Nurse Keith Show nursing career podcast, Nurse Keith interviews Eloise Thiesen, the Board-Certified Geriatric Nurse Practitioner who serves as the dynamic leader and Chief Visionary Office of Radicle Health, a cutting-edge healthcare organization providing access to medical and educational cannabis resources.
Eloise is a board-certified Adult Geriatric Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years experience in nursing. Prior to cannabis Eloise worked for about 14 years in oncology at John Muir. She started her own cannabis practice about 5 years ago and has treated over 5000 patients using cannabis. Eloise was possibly the first healthcare professional to bring a clinical dosing regimen to the cannabis space and has assembled the knowledge and data to use cannabis to treat a broad range of conditions and disease, especially those that commonly afflict seniors: pain, insomnia, anxiety, and depression. There are very few HCPs nationally with the same level of expertise and experience. Eloise is the President-Elect of the American Cannabis Nurses Association for 2019, and will serve as President through 2022.
In this episode, we discuss the NCSBN cannabis guidelines; how important it is for nurses to be educated about the medical uses of cannabis; harm reduction; the gateway drug myth; THC vs CBD; Radicle Health’s curriculum for nurses, as well as the efforts to create associations of cannabis nurses around the world. And if you’ve never heard the term “The Devil’s Lettuce”, you definitely want to listen in!
