On episode 276 of The Nurse Keith Show nursing career and healthcare podcast, Keith interviews Sadie Glisson, BSN, RN, CTR, a champion of the burgeoning field of remote nursing. Through her platform, TheRemoteNurse, Sadie helps RNs, nurse practitioners, and Physician Assistants discover intriguing and remunerative opportunities that offer the flexibility of working remotely.
Sadie Glisson is a Registered Nurse who runs a large online community and job board specializing in Remote Telehealth jobs for Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants. She has been working from home as a Nurse for several years after running into the same questions and roadblocks many other nurses face in the hopes of going remote. Now, she uses her knowledge and experience to help others discover the elusive field of Remote Nursing and open the door for further possibilities in both career and life.
Here’s what Sadie has to say about herself:
“I am a nurse who has been working from home for years! After finding myself offering advice on dozens of Nursing Facebook groups, I decided to create my own group called Remote Nursing Jobs. In a matter of months, the group EXPLODED and I soon expanded into Remote NP & PA Job, along with my Job Board Remote Medical Jobs and Website The Remote Nurse!
“I started my nursing career as a Pediatric Special Needs Care Coordinator, primarily serving patients with neurological disorders like Epilepsy and Autism. Then, I moved into the field of research where I became a Pediatric Oncology Clinical Research Coordinator. After a few years of that, my husband (a Nurse Practitioner) joined the Army and informed me we were moving to Kansas with the potential to move every 3 years thereafter. This (along with the fact that I wanted to start a family and be home with my baby) inspired me to start looking into remote work options.
“I realized that this area of nursing was a hidden gem! So many opportunities existed, but they were scattered everywhere with no real pattern or logic. After several months of searching, applying, interviewing, failing, and learning, I eventually landed a remote job doing Oncology Data Abstraction which I continue today!
“I now use all the information I learned in my job searches to help other Nurses, NPs, and PAs streamline the process, land remote jobs that truly fit their needs, and cultivate their own definitions of work and life. My hope is that by giving you the knowledge, tools, and networks, you can pivot your job into a career that fits YOU rather than the other way around.”
