Melissa Cortez is a BSN graduated from Towson University in Baltimore MD. She has worked in Critical Care, Acute Care, Long-term Care, Skilled Nursing, Management, Home Health, Hospice and Trauma. After her COVID crisis contract at Massachusetts General Hospital, she decided to revolutionize healthcare by teaching nurses to respond to a chaotic environment by using mindfulness tools she herself uses on a daily basis. As a military wife and Mom to 3 boys, she is an excellent resource for maintaining calm in the chaos.
In 2020, Melissa started her company Cortex Energy Systems: A Light and Love Corporation to enhance the art of Nursing by delivering evidence-based systems that build resilient nurses. The Cortex Method consists of an online course delivering engaging video modules, a membership to a positive online community facilitated by Cortex peer-peer coaches and hosts a network of collaborators dedicated to producing lasting change for nurse well-being in and out of the hospital. Leanne Meier, BSN, RN is the host of an international nurse talk show called Once a Nurse, Always a Nurse. Over 3 yrs, she has built an audience of 120,000 listeners in 70+ countries. As a nurse for 47 years she has worked in nearly every area of hospital nursing, opened the first Single Room Maternity Care in the East Metro of the Twin Cities in 1990, hired and supported the learning of nurse managers in Human Resources and taught RN Refresher courses for 5 yrs. On a suggestion from a PhD student in her class, she took a chance on becoming a Radio Host. Her initial goal was to Recruit people of all walks of life to nursing, Refresh nurses burning out on nursing into discovering new aspects of nursing and encouraging Refresher nurses returning from a lifetime of service in other ways to come back to the bedside as well as rediscover their strengths in new nursing fields. Currently she is voicing the needs of COVID-19 workers to the world.
Leanne’s extensive experience includes 17 years of management experience, teaching staff how to deal with conflict resolution. She also consulted with and mediated conflicts between managers, employees, teams and individuals. She graduated from St. Luke’s Nursing in Duluth, MN in 1976 and completed her BSN at Metro State University in 1997. Leanne attended Hamline University in St. Paul for two years toward a Master’s Degree in Writing. She also completed a program with “The Coaches Training Institute” for Personal Coaching.
