Episode 33 is all about gratitude as many of us in the United States prepare for Thanksgiving, one of my favorite holidays. This episode was actually recorded in our hotel room in Park City, Utah; you may notice my relaxed demeanor, which is likely due to a lovely Utah vacation that set me up for feeling very grateful for so many things in my life.
The first gratitude I wanted to express is for my wife, Mary Rives, whose support in my pursuing a career as a nurse was invaluable, and whose continued support of my career as a nurse entrepreneur, blogger, writer, podcaster, and career coach for nurses has been equally stellar and consistent.
Who helped you get where you are now? How often do you give thanks for your identity and career as a nurse? Who supports you at this point in your career—family, friends, colleagues, or mentors?
Meanwhile, you’ll have to listen to this episode in order to hear a personal story about my two aunts who were nurses, as well an entertaining and special anecdote about General George Patton’s hindquarters!
Thinking more about your nursing career, how much money has nursing put in your bank account; how much food has your work as a nurse put on the table? How many lives have you touched as a nurse, and how many lives have touched yours? How many opportunities have come your way, and how have you been able to contribute to society because you’re a nurse?
As for the future, gratitude will get you further than vitriol or negativity, so staying positive and grateful is certainly a great way to go.
